Being a dentist is a gift and a privilege: I am honored by the trust people place in me. I strive to help each achieve optimal oral health and a becoming smile that allows their personality to shine.

Caring for a diverse community, spending my time with people of all ages from many walks of life, is an opportunity to understand and connect with others. After practicing since 1999, I am still seeing some of the same patients – people who’ve become friends – and am now caring for many of their children, too. It’s humbling to realize how much people rely on me and the care I provide.

When I started at Rutgers, I’d intended to become a psychiatrist. Then I met a couple who were youth pastors at a local church and also in the medical field: one was a dentist and the other a medical doctor. After spending time with them, and seeing them in a professional setting, I realized that while psychiatry and internal medicine were opportunities to help others, dentistry was what I needed to pursue.

As a dentist, I’m able to take someone out of pain, give them the ability to comfortably and properly chew, and improve their smile. What I do tangibly improves peoples’ lives, physically and emotionally!

As your dentist, please know I have two open, non-judgmental ears. I promise to always hear you, encourage your honesty, and do my best to help you keep your smile strong and healthy for many years to come.  Dr. Stephen Kang

Dr. Kang enjoys spending free summer days kayaking and canoeing and loves family camping trips.
