ARESTIN

Arestin is a new weapon in the fight against Periodontal or Gum Disease. Gum Disease has been recently linked to various systemic diseases including diabetes and heart disease.  What can you do to fight this disease that affects roughly 80% of the U.S. population?  First, you should seek regular professional dental diagnosis and care. The symptoms of gum disease can be very silent.  Regular prophylaxes (cleanings) can prevent gum disease or stop it before it becomes more serious. If however, you have more advanced gum disease, you already have millions of harmful bacteria causing damage under your gumline.  Arestin is an antibiotic placed directly in the infected areas called "gum pockets."  It is applied immediately after root planing and scaling and mechanically removes as many deposits as possible.  Arestin gradually releases minocycline, an antibiotic that kills the bacteria that cause periodontal disease for 30 days after you leave our office.  Studies show that the use of Arestin provides better results than root planing and scaling alone.  Ask us about Arestin.
